TechDays Korea 2014 opened on Wednesday, September 24th, at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel in Samseong-dong, Seoul. Attended by more than 1000 guests, TechDays Korea is a forum hosted by Microsoft Korea for developers and IT professionals to update the community on latest trends in software development and the latest advancements in Microsoft platforms. CEO Satya Nadella himself was the conference’s keynote speaker.
The theme for this year’s forum was to enhance Microsoft’s platform using open source development.Representatives from Microsoft presented various software and developmental tools during the conference, including Microsoft Azure, TypeScript, Visual Studio Premium, and .NET Framework. Nadella explained that such tools are the products of Microsoft’s mission to “empower every person and every organization on the planet to do more and achieve more.”
This trip was Nadella’s first to South Korea since his promotion to CEO. Within the past week, the executive has met with several business moguls and officials, including representatives of Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, to discuss ways to strengthen Microsoft’s ties with the South Korean tech industry.
“Microsoft offers unique opportunities and resources for developers and businesses around the world to find success in this ‘mobile-first, cloud-first’ age,” said Nadella. “We are committed to enabling you to build products. Being there as a platform and tool provider to the makers, the artists, the builders, the developers. I believe that is the true purpose of Microsoft.”
