Startup Alliance has selected JJS Media to be the beneficiary of its Vienna Start-up Package. The package includes: travel and admission to Europe’s largest startup conference Pioneers Festival 2015, 10 hours of coaching (valued at 2000 EUR), and co-working space and accommodations for three months.
Startup Alliance has been looking for Korean startups to send to Vienna since last June, when it signed a MOU with the City of Vienna with the aim of forming an alliance with one of the fastest growing startup hubs in Europe. Vienna is currently home to about six thousand IT companies that report sales totaling 20 billion EUR.
“We think JJS Media has the potential to succeed in Vienna as a music platform that can connect Korean music artists and Europe’s music fans,” said Jungwook Lim, managing director of Startup Alliance and one of the judges of the Vienna Startup Package competition.
JJS Media currently runs MyMusicTaste, a concert planning platform through which fans can request their favorite artists to perform in their city. Performances can be arranged if sufficient demand is met. Last February, MyMusicTaste helped plan concerts by Korean pop idol group Block B in Paris, Helsinki, Milan, and Warsaw. More than ten thousand concert requests by Block B fans in Europe had made the tour possible. Requests for K-pop artists’ shows have emerged in other European cities as well, notably Frankfurt and Bucharest.
“Businesswise, JSS Media will fit in at Vienna. Vienna is a city of music, as well as the gateway to Europe,” said Matthias Grabner, project director of Advantage Austria Seoul, the country’s official trade promotion organization.
Vienna’s startup scene has been described by a pundit as “irresistible to entrepreneurs” and “watched with interest by US investors.” JJS Media is scheduled to participate in the Pioneer Festival from May 28 to May 29.
