Startup Battles Naver in English Webtoons


Korean comics, or manwha, occupy a lesser-known niche of the so-called Korean Wave of cultural exports than K-Pop, but a San Francisco-based Korean entrepreneur is spotlighting them with a start-up that bills itself the “YouTube of Comics.”

Chang Kim named his three-year-old company Tapastic to represent a space where readers can sample a variety of bite-sized web cartoons, or webtoons, from over 5,000 artists.
