Pursue Your Hobbies at Home While Making Social Impact

Hobbyful

Social venture MADE X MARY (㈜ 마리테이블) announced on June 9th its launch of online hobby class service Hobbyful.

Hobbyful allows users to enjoy various workshops and classes online without having to visit physical studios. Users can enroll in a monthly subscription service and receive full kits and instructor videos at home.

The company currently offers six arts and crafts style classes, such as leather cardholder making, leather bracelet making, french embroidery pouch/eco-bag making and doll knitting. Hobbyful plans to add 1 to 2 new classes every month.

What is most interesting about Hobbyful is its social mission to employ the elders. Every kit that Hobbyful provides to its users is handmade by elder employees of over 60 in age. The company’s social mission is to expand employment across the older generation in Korea who are mostly neglected in the employment market.

CEO Yang Soon Mo notes: “Hobbyful seeks to help people find an easier way to relax and de-stress by making hobbies — that often seem difficult to pursue amidst busy day-to-days — easily pursuable at home.”
