On June 8th, P2P Financial Platform Popfunding (CEO Hyun-wook Shin) was awarded the Best Peer-to-Peer Lending Platform in South Korea at The Asian Banker Peer-to-Peer Audits Awards 2017. The event was hosted by the Asian Banker, a financial magazine founded in 1996 with the goal of providing research and information on the Asia Pacific region’s financial industry. Headquartered in Singapore, the Asian Banker annually selects and announces the best financial institutions for each financial sector. Shinhan Bank was also selected as the domestic financial institution in the retail banking sector this year.
The ‘Asian Banker Peer-to-Peer Audit Awards 2017’ was administered for every major Asian country, including South Korea, China, and India, where the P2P financial industry has been growing explosively. In particular, the Best Peer-to-Peer Lending Platform in China Award was given to Yirendai the first P2P bank in China to be listed on NASDAQ.
“For the past 10 years, we have been highly praised for our management, expertise, and investments,” said Hyun-wook Shin, CEO of Popfunding. “This award will hopefully prompt more interest in the Korean P2P financial market from foreign investors and venture capitalists.”
Popfunding is a first-generation P2P financial platform that was established in 2007. It offers crowdfunding services to the users, enabling them to conduct two-way interpersonal transactions such as borrowing and lending money, executing advertising and fundraising events, and sharing payment-based knowledge and activities.
