Naver Invests 480 billion Won to Construct A New Cloud Data Center In Yongin

Naver Corporation (CEO Sung Sook Han) has decided to construct a new cloud data center, and the center is scheduled to open in the latter half of 2020. The company has completed its acquisition of the site in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do and plans to invest a total of 480 billion Won over the next three years.

With its new cloud data center, Naver Corporation will be able to flexibly respond to rapidly increasing data demand stemming from the growth of AI and autonomous vehicles and strengthen infrastructure competitiveness for the Naver cloud platform that was launched this year.

“The company’s ability to quickly and accurately store, analyze, and process huge amounts of dynamically moving data will be the most important factor for success in the future,” commented Won-ki Park, CEO of Naver Business Platform (NBP). “By investing in the new cloud data center, we will be able to further strengthen our technology leadership in the AI ​​era.”

For your reference, Naver is the first Internet company in Korea to build and operate its own data center, which is located in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.
