In collaboration with Microsoft, Samsung Electronics unveiled its premium mixed reality headset Samsung HMD(Head Mounted Display) Odyssey.

Samsung HMD Odyssey will bring about a new experience to users by naturally connecting the virtual world and the real world through a PC supporting the new Windows 10 OS.

Samsung HMD Odyssey is equipped with two 3.5-inch AMOLED displays that support the highest resolution in the industry, and provides a 110-degree viewing angle for gaming and watching 360-degree video contents.

Specifically, Samsung HMD Odyssey provides a ‘360 degree space sound’ experience to users through Harman’s premium audio AKG headphones. Users can communicate via voice chat application while using Samsung HMD Odyssey, through the built in microphone.

Unlike many existing HMDs, the Samsung HMD is an easy-to-use device that only requires its users to connect the device to PC without installing additional programs. Users can link their 6 DOF (Degrees of Freedom) motion controller to play games.

The device also features an ergonomic design that allows users to adjust  their Inter Pupillary Distance to their vision. It will help users to use the device for long hours without any discomfort.

Managing Director of Samsung Electronics PC business Choi Young-gyu stated, “Samsung Electronics strives to provide different value and experience to our consumers’ lives through meaningful innovations,” “The Samsung HMD Odyssey will introduce a whole new level of mixed reality experience to our users,” he added.

‘Samsung HMD Odyssey’ will be launched in South Korea, USA, China, Brazil, Hong Kong, etc from early November.
